2023 Eye of the Swan Reserve Aleatico Rosé, Sonoma Valley
Our Newest Release!
- In 1975, Sam and his father August Sebastiani created the first “Eye of the Swan” rosé wine. Sam Sebastiani’s La Chertosa “Eye of the Swan” is more than a bottle of wine. It serves as a tribute to his family’s effort to preserve age-old techniques of winemaking. “Our Eye of the Swan is very personal for me,” explained Sam. “It reminds me of spending time with my father, learning about winemaking and waterfowl. Those are happy memories that have warmed me all my life.”
- The extremely rare red Aleatico grapes were grown by the Serres Family at their legendary vineyard. In 2023, less than 19 tons of Aleatico grapes from Sonoma Valley were crushed compared to over 55,000 tons of Pinot Noir. The relationship between the Serres and Sebastiani families dates to their grandfathers and the pioneer days of wine production in the Sonoma Valley. Both families were experienced growers with a passion for quality and have been responsible for decades of fine vintages.
- This 100% sustainably farmed, 100% Aleatico is a beautiful copper color that matches the eyes of the black Australian swans that lived in August’s aviary. This elegant red-soil-grown blush wine is dry and fruity with the classic rose petal aromas for which the grape is known.
- Our previous vintages of Eye of the Swan™ won Double Gold or Gold at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair. The 2022 vintage was also awarded “Best of Class” for Dry Rosé.
